CM Doctoral Consortium (Saturday, August 8)
The Conflict Management Division will run its biennial Doctoral Consortium on Saturday, August 8 from 9am to 5pm. This session seeks to help PhD students who are interested in topics relevant to the domain of conflict management pursue research programs that will contribute to the field and lead to tenure as they build a successful academic career. The format includes presentations by successful conflict management scholars, followed by smaller group discussions. Consortium participants will discuss strategies to enhance their research productivity and professional advancement. Participating faculty include Peter Carnevale (University of Southern California), Lisa Leslie (New York University), Tanya Menon (Ohio State University), Randall Peterson (London Business School), Maurice Schweitzer (University of Pennsylvania), Thomas Tripp (Washington State University), Miguel Unzueta (University of California, Los Angeles), and Laurie Weingart (Carnegie Mellon University).
All candidates must be nominated by a faculty member, and they must not have attended a previous CM doctoral consortium. Candidates should have finished approximately two years of their PhD program. They do not need to have completed their dissertation proposal–only to have chosen a specialization area. Nominating faculty members should submit their nominations, along with a brief statement of the candidate’s research interests, to the Doctoral Consortium organizer and PDW Chair Peter Kim (firstname.lastname@example.org) by June 30th.
